Andries Richter is an Associate Professor at Environmental Economics and Natural Resources Group at Wageningen University & Research. His research focuses on the economics of social–ecological systems, with particular emphasis on how institutions, human behavior, and social norms shape the sustainable management of natural resources. He leads the Economics of Social–Ecological Systems Lab, where he combines theoretical modelling, causal empirical analysis, and economic experiments to study the interactions between society and ecosystems, with applications in environmental governance, marine systems, and renewable resource management.
