Federico Fraga is a PhD candidate with the Environmental Economics and Natural Resources Group, Section Economics, Wageningen University and Research. His research explores how economic insights can support the effective, equitable, and inclusive design and management of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in Uruguay. He studies the governance dynamics of the Isla de Lobos MPA using social-ecological network analysis, applies bioeconomic modeling to assess the viability of fisheries targeting the invasive gastropod Rapana venosa, and examines stakeholder perspectives on invasive species management and potential private-sector contributions to mitigation efforts. His research is supervised by Andries Richter and Francisco Alpizar (WUR) and Omar Defeo (Universidad de la República, Uruguay).
