Sofia’s research focuses on how individuals, communities, and institutions respond to environmental risks in the context of climate change. Sofia studies how risk communication, policy design, and governance frameworks influence adaptation decisions, particularly in flood risk management, nature-based solutions, and agricultural responses to climate variability. This work combines empirical data, experiments, and policy analysis to understand how environmental risks are perceived and managed in practice, with the aim of informing policies that support effective and socially equitable climate adaptation.
